American Campaign Medal - Asiatic-Pacific Medal (1-Okinawa) - World War II Victory Medal
Over 176 Naval ships participated in the battle and invasion of Okinawa. The Aberdeen Victory (later the U.S.S. Altair) was one of these ships and was awarded a Battle Star. Allied forces suffered over 49,000 casualties while the Japanese had over 100,000 casualties. Over 700 Japanese kamikaze planes attacked the Naval Fleet during the battle.
